Hate against racists -- is that American?

Why is okay in present day America to hate racists? So many talk shows that discuss racism explain that those with racist views are wrong and should not be tolerated? I am not talking about hate crimes or denying people their rights, just having those opinions. If a person doesn't want to be friends with other races, so what? America used to be a place where you can have your own ideas and opinions. Is it still today? I'm not so sure! There are differences between races and cultures. Of this, there should be no debate. If those differences cause people to decide to have negative feelings against a certain races or groups of people, that should be their right. I have met people that I didn't like right away when I met them. I have decided to not interact with people that are like that (when I can help it). Isn't this my choice or right as an American? If others think racists are missing out on something or closing themselves up to other opportunities, they can have their own opinions! If as some say that hating others is a bad thing then shouldn't hating racists be considered a bad thing also?
